Affordable Housing
For All
More Homes. Cheaper. Greener. Faster.
There are not enough affordable homes for low and middle income families or starter homes for young couples. This shortage has priced out nurses, police, firefighters, teachers, childcare providers – workers which every community relies upon – from living here in our district. I support the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, a significant bipartisan effort to increase housing supply, lower costs, and streamline federal housing programs. It addresses the housing crisis by reducing regulatory barriers, strengthening infrastructure and curbing institutional investors from buying up single-family homes. I also support the Green New Deal for Public Housing Act which aims to transition the entire public housing stock in the United States into zero-carbon, highly energy-efficient homes.
Help with Mortgage and Property Taxes
More families are now “cost-burdened,” spending 30% or more of their income on housing, while wages have barely moved. First-time homebuyer tax credits, interest-rate buy downs, and expanded FHA support will help families struggling with today’s mortgage rates.
Promote Smart Community Growth
We need to reduce unnecessary barriers to building affordable housing. The federal government can work with state and local leaders to streamline permitting and update restrictive zoning while preserving essential environmental protections. Promoting smart growth will help Bucks and Montgomery County families afford a safe, stable place to live.
