Access to Independent News Media and the Arts.
Ensuring Independence
Ensure Independent News and Media
Corporations and billionaires have gained control of once-trusted news organizations. We cannot allow concentrated corporate ownership of licensed new outlets. It’s too easy for our government to stifle honest reporting by threatening mergers or other business deals needing government approval. We need to break-up these corporate-controlled outlets to ensure independent news journalism.
Support for NPR and PBS
Publicly-owned radio and television is a tried and true low-cost outlet for serious journalism, unaffected by government or corporate influence. Efforts to cut funding were overruled in the courts. But the programming offered by these organizations are much too valuable to lose.
National Endowment for the Arts
Having a robust arts program plays a vital role in the culture for any advanced nation. America has long been home to some of the most innovative and inspiring art movements in the world, and we should continue to ensure American citizens have access to programs, artists, musicians and others who enhance our lives.
